I'm a Knitter

I learned to crochet when I was younger, and while I was in Japan, a friend taught me the basics of knitting, but I hadn't really done anything with it until now.

In an effort to find new ways to get rid of my super large stash of yarn, I thought I'd pick it back up and see what I remembered. With the help of the handouts my friend had made, I got the basics back, and I've now started on a scarf. It'll take me the next 15 years to finish, but at least I know I can do it!

What We're Reading

Zack is on deployment and mostly devotes his reading time to reading the news.

Anne: Recently Finished: Mockingjay I actually just read the whole Hunger Games series actually. I found it very difficult to put down. It reads quick, the characters are strong and interesting, and there's never a dull moment.
Currently Reading: Ratios The author calls this an anti-cook book at one point, meaning that it helps free cooks from the necessity of always having a recipe. It discusses how ratios make up all cooking in one way or another. It's a slower read, since it gets a bit into the technical stuff of cooking, but very interesting to consider.

Ela's current favorites: Sweet Pickles Shes discovered Zack's old collection and she loves any book about animals.

Princess Charity's Courageous Heart I was at the Christian Bookstore picking up my Bible study book, and she said she wanted a book. It's hard to argue with a child who's begging for a book, especially when one has a 40% off coupon, so this was the book she ended up with. It's actually very cute, with a good message.

The Berenstain Bears We have the whole collection from when Zack was little, and she loves them, though I'm not sure she really follows the finer points of the plot.

Lily's current favorite: Baby Faces Lily's into board books and babies, so there you go.
