That's right, folks. My computer is back up and (mostly) running, so to celebrate, I will start posting lots of pictures of warm, sunny places. :-)
At the end of October, Zack and I flew out to Hawaii to visit with family. My dad rented a place for me, Zack, him, Mom, and my sister Emily to stay and we all arrived in on a very loooong Saturday. Crossing the international date line is always interesting. In this case, we left for the airport at 8:00 am on Saturday, and arrived in Hawaii at 7:00 am on Saturday... weird. Anyway, most of Saturday part two was consumed by getting everyone from the airport and generally getting settled in, so Sunday, we all decided to go to the beach:
This lovely strip of sand was well within walking distance from the condo where we were staying, but with Zack's leg still in a brace and his crutches still very important for mobility, we packed everything into the car and went that way. The temperature was about as perfect as anyone could as for and, thanks to the lovely man made barrier, the water was as smooth as any swimming pool.
So we swam and read and chatted and generally recovered from jet lag for a day. What made the beach even better were the lovely umbrellas set up to shade those of us who were going to be returning to countries where pale skin is admired.
Don't be fooled by the lack of brace in this picture. Zack is still wearing it regularly. However, the doctors have told him he can take it off when he's not moving around much, and he thought that the combination of sand and velcro was less than desirable, so when we went to the beach, he'd leave it behind. He also did everything in his power to hide his crutches in as many pictures as possible, but they're there. I promise.
Anyway, I didn't take a lot of pictures at the beach, being far to busy enjoying the relaxation of it all, but don't worry, the camera got plenty of use before the end.
